Students will normally receive an approval or Student Award Letter within 3 to 5 business days. In some cases, Student Loan Application processes can take 3 to 6 weeks. You can view processing times on the home page of the Alberta Student Aid Website.
Once you have
submitted an application online, you should check your Student Aid
Account Inbox DAILY as this is where you will find your Student Award Letter or
any further information Student Aid is requesting to process your application. Failure to provide information will result in
delays in approving your application, freezing your Student Aid account, or
rejection of your loan application.
Below are examples frequently
requested information:
· Spousal Consent and Declaration Form: If you indicated you are common law or married on your application, you will be required to have your Spouse or Common Law Partner complete and sign a Spousal Consent and Declaration Form. It will be sent to your Inbox with your Student Award Letter and your student aid agreements.
· Student Aid Agreements Outstanding: Before you can receive any student loans or grants, you need to complete a legal agreement between you and your loan provider. Please see the Student Aid Website for more information regarding your Student Aid Agreements: https://studentaid.alberta.ca/applying-for-funding/getting-your-money/student-aid-agreements/
·
Missing Information Letter: If you received a letter like the sample letter
below, you entered the incorrect school information. In Step 12 of the step-by-step guide to Applying
for Student Aid, you will see that it is imperative the school information
is entered correctly.
You will need to cancel your application and re-apply with the proper school information. Please use the step-by-step guide to Applying for Student Aid and enter each step carefully.
