I need to Update my Application or submit a Request for Review (RFR)
As of June 2022, Students are now able to cancel or make changes to their Student Loan applications after it has been submitted!
Students can log on to their Alberta Student Aid Account and use the “Update Application” section as seen in the screenshot below. Please note that “Update Application” is only available (and will appear in blue) when you have an application in progress, your enrolment has not yet been confirmed by the school and funds have not yet been released.
Here are some top reasons why Students in the past have needed to make changes to their Student Loan Application:
- You submitted your Student Loan Application, but your registration has been delayed for whatever reason and you cannot start when you originally planned. i.e. you have not submitted your Diploma Application form, transcripts or ID and you are due to start class in the next few days. Thankfully, EIE has start dates every two weeks so you can now change your dates to the next available start date to give yourself sometime to submit your documents.
- Our Student Advisors and Finance Team reviewed your Application Summary and noticed incorrect information such as tuition, books/supplies, mandatory fees or computer costs. Our step by step guide to "Applying for Student Aid" is geared to help students properly apply and get the most benefits from Student Aid. In step 12d. Educational Costs For School Term of our step by step guide, we outline the specific amounts a student should enter for tuition, books/supplies, mandatory fees or computer costs.
To make changes to your application, click the “Update Application” button and your Application Summary will appear. Click on the field you wish to correct and make your changes. Then submit your revised application.
You will receive a revised Student Award Letter if your changes have been approved OR a letter from Student Aid if they are requesting more information. Please check your Student Aid Account Inbox regularly. Please let your Student Advisor know that you submitted an update on your application and submit your new Student Award Letter once received.
Once your funding is paid, the application dates cannot be amended. Instead, you must submit a “Request for Review” to correct your information.
The “Request for Review” section can also be used if you don't feel that you were awarded enough money and want your application to be reviewed. Please click the following link to the “Loans and Grants Funding Guide” from Alberta Student Aid for more details: What if I didn't get enough money or my situation changes?
Students will be able to cancel an active Request for Review submission without having to involve the Alberta Student Aid Service Centre in this process.
