What do I do if I'm feeling sick with flu or COVID symptoms, if I have tested positive for COVID-19, or if I have been in contact with someone who has tested positive?

If you are experiencing symptoms:

Do not attend any in-person classes until you are free of symptoms. You must email our Student Advisor Team at advisor@eietrainingcentre.ca to let us know that you are symptomatic and that you will not be attending class. You will not be charged a rescheduling fee if you are sick with COVID or flu-like symptoms, as long as you notify us prior to the start of your class. If you do not notify us prior to class and simply do not show up to class, you will be charged a rescheduling fee and a no-show fee as per our Student Handbook. Once you have notified us, a Student Advisor will contact you to reschedule your classes. You will not be permitted to return to class for at least two weeks or until you have tested negative for COVID-19 and are symptom-free, whichever is longer. Do not work on models or quotas for at least two weeks or until you are symptom-free, whichever is longer.

You should get tested if you have any COVID-19 symptom and notify us of the result by emailing advisor@eietrainingcentre.ca 

If you have any of these core symptoms, you are legally required to isolate for at least 10 days from the start of your symptoms or until they are gone, whichever is longer:
  1. Fever
  2. Cough (new cough or worsening chronic cough)
  3. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing (new or worsening)
  4. Runny nose
  5. Sore throat
If you have any of these other symptoms, you should stay home and limit contact with others until your symptoms are gone:
  1. Chills
  2. Painful swallowing
  3. Stuffy nose
  4. Headache
  5. Muscle or joint aches
  6. Feeling unwell, fatigue or severe exhaustion
  7. Gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or unexplained loss of appetite)
  8. Loss of sense of smell or taste
  9. Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye
Monitor your health and call Health Link 811 or your health care provider if you have questions or concerns. Call 911 immediately if experiencing severe symptoms of COVID-19, including difficulty breathing, severe chest pain, feelings of confusion or loss of consciousness.


If you have tested positive for COVID-19:

Do not attend any in-person classes for at least two weeks from the date of your positive test result or until you are free of any symptoms, whichever is longer. You must email our Student Advisor Team at advisor@eietrainingcentre.ca to let us know that have tested positive, the date of your test, and that you will not be attending class. You will not be charged a rescheduling fee if you are sick or tested positive with COVID-19 as long as you notify us prior to the start of your class. If you do not notify us prior to class and simply do not show up to class, you will be charged a rescheduling fee and a no-show fee as per our Student Handbook. Once you have notified us, a Student Advisor will contact you to reschedule your classes. If you have been in direct contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19

You should get tested for COVID-19 immediately, and notify us at advisor@eietrainingcentre.ca that you have been in direct contact with someone who has tested postiive for COVID-19.
  1. If you have no symptoms you may continue to attend class. Notify our team at advisor@eietrainingcentre.ca with your test results.
    1. If your test if negative and you have no symptoms you can continue to attend your scheduled classes
  2. If you develop symptoms or test positive, you must notify our team at advisor@eietrainincentre.ca and follow the steps listed above in this article

If you have been contacted by Alberta Health Services and advised to get tested for COVID-19

You should get tested for COVID-19 immediately, and notify us at advisor@eietrainingcentre.ca that you have been advised by Alberta Health Services to do so.
  1. If you have no symptoms you may continue to attend class. Notify our team at advisor@eietrainingcentre.ca with your test results.
    1. If your test if negative and you have no symptoms you can continue to attend your scheduled classes
  2. If you develop symptoms or test positive, you must notify our team at advisor@eietrainincentre.ca and follow the steps listed above in this article
